Growing Up

Growing up is weird. I’m sure you’ve all been asked (or been the asker) of the question “What do you want to be when you grow up?” I think inherent in that question is the assumption that there is some threshold where on one side you are a child, and on the other side, you are grown up. I can see reinforcement in this idea in fairy tales where the protagonist goes through some trial and is then accepted and/or given status by the community. (The fact this often coincides with marriage is another post entirely.)
