Editing is Cool

I am not an English Major. I did okay in my English classes, I think I have a pretty decent grasp of how to string words together, but it’s been a long time since I’ve diagrammed a sentence. I also overuse commas. Like, a LOT. I actually like the editing process, because it reminds me about those long-forgotten grammar rules, and teaches me stuff I didn’t know. Blurbs

I — am not a fan of writing blurbs. Mostly because I don’t feel I’m good at it, and I put it off to the last minute, and then it moves from a task to a TASK and isn’t fun. But I discovered something during the editing process for Dog Days March that’s making me try to re-frame how I think about, and tackle writing blurbs. As I sat down and picked the story apart for what to include in the blurb, some themes popped out at me that I hadn’t given a whole lot of thought to in the writing process.
